Post Malone + Dolly Parton’s ‘Have the Heart’ Is a Charming Lil’ Can’t-Quit-You Track
Post Malone hit the jackpot of country collaborations when he snagged a duet with Dolly Parton for his new F-1 Trillion album, which arrived Friday (Aug. 16).
The two came together for a can't-quit-you track called "Have the Heart." The song follows two lovers who know they should call it quits, but the thought of hurting the other person breaks their heart.
Ultimately, they decided their quandary is tomorrow's problem and one more night won't hurt.
Listen to "Have the Heart":
Here Are the Lyrics to Post Malone's "Have the Heart" Feat. Dolly Parton
Chorus:
Baby, I don't have the heart to break yours / Yeah, and trouble rode in on the back of a pale white horse / You’re so sweet, and tryna leave is like / Slammin' a revolvin' door / Baby, I don’t have the heart to break yours
Verse 1:
I should be calling it quits instead of calling you up / We should be making some plans / Instead of makin' love / We're playing chicken with "enough is enough"
Repeat Chorus
Verse 2:
Wanna hear somethin’ sexy? / I like the way that my bed is looking over your boots / And them bell-bottoms I wear make walkin' out hard to do / We know well that it ain’t gonna work / Oh, what the hell's one more night gonna hurt?
Repeat Chorus
Outro:
We should saw this love in half on the sawdust floor / Baby, I don't have the heart to break yours / Baby, I don't have the heart to break yours / I just can't do it
Collaborations on Post Malone's F-1 Trillion Album
Malone put on a clinic when it comes to country collaborations on his new album. The collection features 14 guest artists, including Hank Williams Jr., Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Tim McGraw and more.
Having a laundry list of country's biggest names certainly got the nation's attention, and it's a strategy that has served the rapper well in his foray into the genre. The real genius behind these joint efforts is that Malone found a way to blend both his vision for the music with the signature styles of these artists.
For example, Parton could take "Have the Heart" and record it on her own, and it would fit seamlessly into her catalog of music. The same is true for his other collaborations.
F-1 Trillion is both a celebration of country music and Malone's genuine love for the format.
