Hudson Valley Man Gunned Down Near School, Suspects on Run
Police are on the hunt for three suspects in connection with a deadly shooting near a local school that forced school officials to cancel all classes.
On Friday around 2 a.m., members of the Kingston Police Department responded to 38 West O’Reilly Street. A woman said someone killed a man in the residence.
Upon arrival, officers found the reporting female outside the home stating that the male victim, Myron Moye Jr., was shot and was inside the home. Officers initiated first aid and chest compressions on the 36-year-old from Kingston until EMS arrived. He was transported by emergency medical services to Health Alliance Broadway Campus where he was pronounced dead.
The proximity of the crime scene to Kingston High School prompted Kingston police to notify the school system. School officials then decided to close all Kingston schools on Friday.
Witnesses described three African-American men, between 20-30 years-old, wearing dark clothing and sneakers leaving the residence. The suspects are furthered described as follows:
- 5’8”-6’0” tall, thin build, medium complexion
- 5’5”-5’8”, heavier build possibly 250 lbs, light-skinned
- Shorter than other two with a thin build
Police are asking the public in the area of West O’Reilly Street, Broadway and Mary’s Avenue in Kingston to check their security cameras for any unusual or suspicious people or vehicles in that area on Nov. 1, between 1:30 AM and 2:30 AM.
The Kingston Police Department is also continuing to investigate a homicide from Oct. 24. Daniel Thomas was fatally shot near a Hudson Valley Boys & Girls Club and the shooter is still on the loose.
Police have not said if the killings are related.

As Mayor of the City of Kingston, it is with great sadness that I share news of a second homicide in our community. My thoughts are with the family of the victims during this difficult time. We are aware that both attacks were targeted and at this time we do not believe there is a threat to the general public. Still, I am aware that such horrific acts have resulted in a sense of unease in our community. I want you all to know that we will be doing everything we can to make sure that the individuals responsible are apprehended as soon as possible. I want to assure the people of Kingston that the Kingston Police Department is working day and night to solve both of these recent crimes. We have strong leadership in Chief Tinti, able investigators, and a dedicated police force who devote their lives to keeping our community safe.
