A multiple Emmy winner with a number of ties to the Hudson Valley was found dead from a likely suicide.

Chef and writer Anthony Bourdain died at the age of 61. CNN confirmed the death of the Emmy winning host Friday morning, reporting that Bourdain committed suicide.

"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," CNN said in a statement. "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

Bourdain was in France working on an upcoming episode. He was found unresponsive by a fellow chef inside his hotel room Friday morning.

Bourdain graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1978. In December 2017, he gave the commencement speech at CIA and received an honorary degree.
