Veterans Day is Monday, November 11th.

For some of us, this is known as a day off or the perfect time for getting good deals at our favorite retail stores. Let’s remember why we have the opportunity to do so on this day.

November 11th has been marked as a day to pay a tribute to everyone who has served or currently serving in the military. Veterans Day is also known as Remembrance Day or Armistice Day. On this 100th anniversary, it’s important to remember the sacrifices that our veterans have made.

Military veterans hold a special place in my heart.

For most veterans, it’s important to not confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. My dad and his friends are always doing charitable work for organizations for veterans. From my experience, I learned the difference between the two holidays.

Veterans Day stands for honoring and remembering everyone who has previously served our military and currently serving. On the other hand, Memorial Day is a day to remember those who lost their lives for their country while in the service.

There are several ways to show a veteran how much we appreciate them. A little thing could go a long way!

Here are some ways to help honor our country’s heroes today and every day.

  • Send a package, card
  • Attend a Veterans Day event
  • Hang or fly a flag
  • Visit a nursing home or VA hospital
  • Say THANK YOU
  • Provide assistance to homeless veterans
  • Provide assistance to veterans with PTSD
  • Donate to an organization that assists veterans
  • Show your support

Companies and businesses are showing their appreciation by offering freebies and discounts to former and active military service members.
