Joe Panik was always a New York Yankee fan growing up. Now, the San Francisco second baseman is ready to play at Yankee Stadium this Friday, as the Giants face the Bronx Bombers.

First, the John Jay High School product is going to have to go through injury rehabilitation in the minors. Panik has been out of action since June 27 after suffering a concussion. He will suit up Monday night as he plays for the Giants' Triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats.

Baring any further injuries, Panik should be ready to go by Friday as the Yankees and Giants go at it for a three-game interleague series.

Unfortunately, injuries have dogged Panik the past year. He missed a good portion of the second half of the 2015 season with back issues. This year, Panik got hit in the head by a pitch on June 18.

Of course, this isn't the first time Panik has come home to play in New York, as he's faced the Mets on their home field every year he's been in the majors.
