Halloween Forecast May Wash Out Hudson Valley Trick-Or-Treaters

Hudson Valley residents may wind up with lots of leftover candy this Halloween.

Kids all over the area are preparing for the big night, but their hopes of grabbing treats from the neighborhood may be squashed by an ever-increasing chance of rain.

For the past week, forecasters have hinted that rain would be a possibility on Thursday. Now that we're just 48 hours away from the big night that chance is turning into more of a certainty.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 90% chance of rain during the day on October 31, turning into a 100% chance in the evening. Kids who are planning on cruising their neighborhoods in costume may need to readjust their plans. Rain up to an inch may quickly soak through those costumes, turning those scary monsters into a soggy mess.

Younger kids have been able to participate in plenty of community events and parades during the month. Trunk-or-treat events have become popular in the weeks leading up to Halloween, giving children a chance to show off their costumes and grab candy. Older kids, however, that go out on foot on Halloween may be disappointed to hear the rainy forecast.
