Flash Flood Watch Issued For Most of Hudson Valley
Officials warn parts of the Hudson Valley may experience flash flooding.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Food Watch for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties from noon until Tuesday morning.
Flash flooding is possible for those areas from this afternoon until Tuesday morning, officials say.
"A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued," the National Weather Service said.
Rain showers with embedded thunderstorms will develop and move across the area Monday through early Tuesday. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will be possible, officials say. Rainfall totals of around 1.5 to 2 inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible.
Flash flooding will be possible, especially in areas of poor drainage, low-lying areas, and in urban areas, according to the National Weather Service. Fast reacting rivers and streams may flood as well.
The National Weather Service hasn't issued a warning for Dutchess or Ulster counties. But, they say "there is a threat for heavy rainfall along with a threat for severe weather."
