Public engagement can come in many forms from volunteering one hour cleaning a nature trail to serving everyday as a politician. All levels of engagement are equally important and should suit each person's interests and capabilities. In this presentation I will talk about the benefits and challenges to public engagement, opportunities for how to get more engaged (in a way that suits you), and answer questions about my experiences.

Eve Walter, PhD have served on numerous boards in the region and state. These included the Ulster County Youth Board and the Ulster County Criminal Council, as well as PTA and swim team board. Eve was one of the founding members of the Rosendale Theatre and served as its first sitting president upon its designation as a 501c3. Currently, Eve serves on the New York State Women's Suffrage Commissioner and is the New Paltz Village Planning Board Chair. Eve is also running for County Legislator.
