Brush Fire Breaks Out in Dutchess County Residence, Quickly Escalates
The Hughsonville Fire Department shared a press release to their social media accounts detailing a fire that spread rather quickly.
On Friday June 6th, 2025, the Hughsonville Fire Department received a call about a brush fire. However, once the crew arrived on scene they saw that the brush fire had spread.
According to the press release the first responding firefighter "found a detached garage, camper and large amount of rubbish fully involved behind a single-family residence."
The statement goes on to add that "the incident was quickly upgraded to a 10-75 (Working Structure Fire)." Addition mutual aid resources were needed "due to the extent of the fire."
Several Dutchess County Agencies Arrive on Scene
Hughsonville Engine 45-11 was the first truck on scene and was there to knock down a bulk of the fire in an effort to "protect a nearby residential structure." The structure "sustained minor radiant heat damage."
New Hackensack Firefighters, were there as well "stretching an additional hand line to assist with fire suppression operations. " Village of Fishkill Firefighters were also on the scene acting as the designated Firefighter Assist and Search Team.

The initial call for the fire came in around 12:40 pm that afternoon and all unites were back in service by 4:30 pm.
What Caused The Fire?
Several agencies made their way to the residence to assist in knocking down the fire.
Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, Town of Wappingers Ambulance, Central Hudson Gas & Electric, and the Town of Wappinger Building Department were all on the scene.
As to what caused the fire, Hughsonville Fire Department shares that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division will be looking into the blaze, but at this time nothing about the fire appears suspicious.
