A Dutchess County bookkeeper who stole over $150,000 from her Ulster County employer was sentenced to jail time. This marked her 3rd grand larceny conviction.

Maureen Leggett, 53, from Red Hook was will serve 3.5 to 7 years in prison for her conviction of 3rd-degree grand larceny, a felony. She was also ordered to pay back the money she stole.

According to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, working as a bookkeeper in charge of the financial matters for a business in Ulster Park, Leggett stole $155,594 from January 23, 2013 to April 6, 2015.

Officials say Leggett unlawfully used the business credit card, owner’s personal credit card, and unlawfully wrote checks. She deposited the stolen money into her husband’s bank account.

Leggett was convicted for grand larceny in 2006 and 2009 in similar schemes.
