Driver Identified in Route 52 Crash That Killed Mother and Infant
More information has been made available regarding the crash that killed a mother, and her infant.
On Sunday night at approximately 8:40 p.m., New York State Troopers responded to a report of pedestrians struck by a motor vehicle on Route 52 near Old Glenham Road in the town of Fishkill.
An investigation revealed that Robert Mahone, 53, of Fishkill was traveling westbound on Route 52 in the center lane of the three-lane road. Mahone did not see the mother and her four children attempting to cross the road and hit all five, according to police.
The mother and infant were killed as a result of the collision, and the three other children were transported to Westchester Medical Center.
Mahone remained on the scene immediately after the collision. Police said he was not speeding, was not impaired by drugs or alcohol, and was not issued any vehicle or traffic citations.
A GoFundMe has been setup to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
