Did You Know There's a Teddy Bear Museum in the Hudson Valley?

The Hudson Valley is full of hidden treasures. I've been living here for almost thirty years and I'm still being surprised by the fascinating places around me that I never even knew existed.

This week someone told me about a teddy bear museum that's been in operation for five years right here in the Hudson Valley. The museum also doubles as a cafe where you can get incredible baked goods, sandwiches and coffee.

Located just outside of Kingston, the Den of Marbletown is located inside an unassuming house that, if it wasn't for the sign out front, you probably would never even know held an impressive collection of rare and historic teddy bears.

The museum is located at the intersection of Tongore Road and Route 209 in Stone Ridge. Inside you'll find an incredible collection of teddy bears, stuffed animals and other dolls and toys. The crown jewel is a 1904 Steiff "rod bear" that is one of the rarest teddy bears in existence. It's joined by over 5,000 other Steiff stuffed animals, Madame Alexander dolls, Barbies, hand-carved wooden toys and more.

After viewing the impressive collection, you can sit down for some freshly baked pastries, coffee or even a meal at the attached coffee shop and cafe. During the summer you can enjoy your food on one of the museum's covered porches, or even get a picnic basket to go and set off for lunch at the nearby pond.

Of course, the museum also has a gift shop, offering Steiff collectibles, toys and other keepsakes.
