Deer Stranded on Rock in Partially Frozen Pond Rescued
A concerned citizen who reported the stranded deer, also assisted in the rescue.
On November 15, a concerned citizen contacted environmental conservation officers regarding a deer stranded on a rock in the middle of a pond in the Town of Jewett, in Greene County.
The deer did attempt to leave the rocky island, but could not swim through the ice and returned to the rock.
The ECO, along with the citizen used rowboat to break a path out to the stranded deer, and as they approached, the deer jumped into the water.
then from the row boat, the two used a catch pole to hold the deer while they quickly moved the boat back to the shore.
The deer was released and quickly ran off into the woods in good health.
