Cows Caught Wandering the Streets in Dutchess County
It's time for another edition of "Smitty makes up a story," as two cows were spotted roaming the streets in Dutchess County.
If you remember, back in January, a horse and a pig were spotted roaming the streets in Ulster County.
Moonpie dreamed of seeing her name in lights across the marquee.
It seems some Hudson Valley animals were motivated by the horse and pig and decided that they needed off the farm as well. So, let's make up another story on why these animals were spotted wandering around...
Once upon a time in East Fishkill, N.Y. two cows were seen wandering the streets. Moonpie, the cow, and her young calf, Heffer, lived an ordinary life, much like most farm animals.
Her dancing skills always excited the bulls, and she knew she could make it big!
However, Moonpie was 'udder'ly disgusted by her life on the farm. Once Heffer entered her life, Moonpie thought more and more about how her life was passing by so quickly. She thought about all the things she hadn't experienced and decided to make a change.
Moonpie dreamed of seeing her name in lights across the marquee. Her dancing skills always excited the bulls, and she knew she could make it big!
Moonpie had to devise an escape plan. She cut a deal with Woody, the farm's rooster. Moonpie promised to put a good word in with one of the hens for Woody, and he agreed to skip his wake-up call duties the next morning.
With the farmer being without his morning Woody, the extra time would allow Moonpie and Heffer to make a break for it. The only problem she faced was the farm's gate...
Luckily for Moonpie, the farmer's daughter snuck out that night, leaving the gate open slightly before hopping on her boyfriend's scooter.
Like a sign from the Gods, Moonpie took full advantage. Her and Heffer made their break for it.
Woody kept his promise to Moonpie, and the farmer woke up late. By then, Moonpie and Heffer were long gone.
Where they'll end up, nobody knows. However, I don't think this will be the last we see of Moonpie and Heffer.
Moonpie did keep her promise to Woody and put a good word in with Louise, one of the hens. Woody and Louise hit it off and are inseparable.
