Carrie Underwood gave one of the most powerful performances of the National Anthem in Super Bowl history when she performed at the game in 2010.

Super Bowl XLIV featured the New Orleans Saints squaring off against the Indianapolis Colts on Feb. 7, 2010. The game took place at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. and ended with the Saints defeating the Colts 31-17. Legendary rockers the Who provided the halftime entertainment, and it fell to Underwood — one of the most powerful vocalists in any genre of contemporary music — to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner," which is widely considered one of the most difficult songs to sing due to its enormous range.

Remember That Time Carrie Underwood Starred in a Commercial?

Underwood was hot off the success of her 2009 album Play On, which featured hit singles "Cowboy Casanova," "Temporary Home," "Undo It" and "Mama's Song." The former American Idol champ was already well on her way to becoming one of the biggest stars across all genres of American music when she took the field, clad in a white jumpsuit with silver accents, to give a controlled, yet impassioned rendition of the song that showed off both her command of the lower part of her voice, and her ability to hit soaring, sustained high notes.

A group of soldiers who were stationed with a NATO training mission at Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan were among the viewers, linked in live via satellite as Underwood sang. Some of the players on the field were visibly moved by her fiery performance, which MTV termed "stellar."

The country superstar shared pictures from that memorable day in a post to Facebook a few days before the Super Bowl in 2016.
