Amazon has plans to open a 1 million square foot distribution center in New York.

While many cities are fighting for Amazon's Headquarters 2, the internet giant already has plans to open a huge distribution center in New York. According to New York Upstate, the plan was announced on Monday, June 18.

The distribution center is planned to open in Rensselaer County, specifically Schodack. A developer is going to build the center and Amazon will fill it by next year. It will employ at least 800 full-time workers when it opens in the third quarter of 2019.

The plan for the new distribution center was kept secret until the announcement at a Town Hall meeting. A representative from Amazon, Eric Murray, and representatives from the developing company were present at the meeting. According to the article, residents are concerned about traffic and other impacts.

Amazon still hasn't announced where their second headquarters will be located.
