Are you looking for an after school program to keep your kids busy, while also learning about horses?

JL Performance Horses in Poughquag has created the Ponysitters program. This program is designed to "promote safety and knowledge while developing and educating youths." The Ponysitters "teach the children about English and Western styles of horseback riding" while giving lessons and hands on experiences with well trained horses and ponies.

Ponysitters runs every Tuesday and Thursday after school from 3:30pm to 7pm and every Saturday from 12 noon to 4:30pm. They are also have hours on holidays and snow days.

There is no prior experience with horses required. Ponysitters will learn "how to properly care for a horse/pony, safe horse handling skills, tack and equipment care, basic grooming and stable management."

The program is open for children 4-16 years old and there is also a summer program that starts June 24, from 9am to 5pm, Monday - Friday until school resumes in September.
