1 Dead After High-Speed Chase in Hudson Valley, Driver Charged

Police allege that the driver of a fleeing Porsche who caused a horrific crash, killing an innocent woman, was driving drunk, without a license and more.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 1, police in Ulster County attempted to pull over a black 2008 Porsche Cayenne on Route 299 in the Town of Lloyd, just outside New Paltz.

Sources tell Hudson Valley Post the driver didn't stop and a high-speed chase with speeds reaching 100 MPH ensued.

As the vehicle approached the intersection at South Street, it struck the side of a 2008 Ford.

The Porsche then crossed over into the eastbound lane striking a 2018 Ford pickup truck head-on, sending the pickup flying down the road, sources say.

The driver of the pickup truck, 39-year-old Danielle M. Pecoraro of New Paltz, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Porsche, 29-year-old Ryan B. Williams of Poughkeepsie was critically injured but survived the high-speed crash.

On Tuesday, following a nearly month-long investigation,  New York State Police charged Williams with aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all felonies, driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, misdemeanors.

Williams was remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.

A passenger in the pickup truck a 24-year-old from New Paltz was injured.
