Will the skies be clear this weekend for the Hudson Valley? We sure hope so.

The most popular meteor shower of the year will be taking place in the skies this weekend. The Perseid meteor shower will be hitting it's peak this weekend on Saturday, August 11th through Monday August, 13th.

It is being reported that 39 meteors are to pass over the Hudson Valley area per hour according to Space.Com. From now until August 20th shooting stars associated with Perseid will be visible in the skies.

The best way to view the meteor shower is to find an isolated location away from bright lights. Give yourself about a half an hour for your eyes to adjust to the darkness and look up in the skies.

But will the weather hold out for the Hudson Valley? According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association it's not looking too great.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected for after 9pm.

Lets cross our fingers and hope for clear skies.
