Since it's officially Winter, we have to discuss winter activities.

Sledding, skiing, snowboarding -- they're all a lot of fun and winter activities that I've taken part in. Although, I wasn't very good at snowboarding and skiing I'm still always game to give it another try. However, a few years ago I stumbled upon what I thought was an awesome local find.

I frequent Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls mostly for hikes, but I've definitely checked out the Haunted Mansion and Holiday Spirit Festival. Last winter, I went to Bowdoin for a hike and came across an ice skating rink! I never knew they had it and apparently it's fairly new.

According to the Dutchess County tourism site, sledding and skating are back this year by popular demand. The rink and hill are open during park hours, 9AM-5PM, and both activities are free. As long as the weather cooperates, Hudson Valley residents can enjoy skating, sledding and hot chocolate or coffee from the pavilion.

Where are your favorite places to go ice skating and sledding around the Hudson Valley?
