After a weird week of a little rain and a few snow flurries, it looks like the sun will be out for the weekend. There's lots of ways to enjoy a beautiful weekend in the Hudson Valley, here's just a few.

 

Saturday, April 25: 10-3. Beacon Barks. A street festival for people who love animals, live music, great food, and having fun in the heart of Beacon. Join the fun and show appreciation for animal shelters, rescue and welfare organizations. Bring your four-legged family members. Local shops and restaurants open their doors to participants (both canine and otherwise) for snacks & treats. A variety of service providers offer information and advice on caring for your pets.

Saturday, April 25: 10-2 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. The International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault & gender violence.  Funds raised for awareness for rape intervention services & education (RISE) of Sullivan County.  Put on a pair of women’s shoes and join the walk.  This unique fundraiser asks men to literally walk in women’s shoes.  It takes a lighthearted approach to a very serious subject.  Women & children are welcome to register and walk, too!  There will be raffles, prizes and refreshments.  Students with ID are free.  Children 12 & under are free.  Registration at 9 am.

 

Saturday, April 25: 10-4. The Hudson Valley Draft Horse Assoc. will hold their annual spring plow at Saunderskill farm, 5100 Rt. 209, Accord, NY 12404. They'll be plowing with horses and mules.  An ox will be on display.  Other activites will be wagon rides, vendors, live music, good food kids games and much more. Free admission.  Donations accepted.

Saturday, April 25: 10-4.  Brigade of the American Revolution at New Windsor Cantonment State Historic Site, Vails Gate. A weapons firing demonstration will take place at 2 pm with colorfully uniformed soldiers firing muskets and maneuvering to the music of fifes and drums. Visitors will also see the family members of the soldiers who traveled with the army. Through lectures and demonstrations a wide variety of 18th century period life is revealed. In addition to the special programs and activities, the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor and the New Windsor Cantonment Visitor Center are open. On Sun Apr 26 The Brigade will take place at Knox's Headquarters State Historic Site. Free admission.
