Celebrity chef, Anthony Bourdain, was right here in the Hudson Valley this week.

Fans of Bourdain's critically acclaimed "No Reservations," or his current CNN series "Parts Unknown" may have done a double-take seeing the star in our area, but Bourdain is certainly no stranger to the Mid Hudson region.

The chef filmed an episode of "No Reservations" in the Hudson Valley, visiting the black dirt region of Orange County, a taco truck in front of Family Dollar in Newburgh, the Roundout in Kingston and Bourdain's alma mater, The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.

On Tuesday night Bourdain was back at the CIA to give the commencement address. According to Food and Wine Magazine, the 1978 graduate was invited back to not only talk to the graduating class, but also receive an honorary doctorate.

The schools president, Tim Ryan, called Bourdain an industry icon before honoring him with the degree. The chef talked to the students about the recent incidents of sexual misconduct that have rocked the restaurant industry, with high-profile chefs like Mario Batali, Ken Friedman and John Besh all being accused of improprieties.

Bourdain ended his speech by encouraging the students to be accountable for the themselves and create a better culture for the future of the restaurant industry.
