Every January we celebrate the beginning of a New Year. It may seem like a faint memory at this point especially if you have already given up on your New Year's resolutions. But it was only 27 short days ago that the whole world welcome in 2017. Tomorrow officially begins the Lunar New Year. This might be a good opportunity to re-set your resolution clock.

So what is the Lunar New Year? The simple explanation is it is a year based on the cycle of the moon instead of the regular calendar most of us use on a daily basis. The Lunar New Year always falls between January 21st and February 20th on a monthly calendar. This year arrives on January 28th. China Highlights has done a pretty good job of breaking it down and explaining why each year has an animal and why those animals where chosen to represent the years. I happen to be a rabbit, I wanted to be a dragon. Turns out the rabbit is the "yin" to the dragon "yang".

2017 isn't just the Year of the Rooster it is also the Elemental Year of Fire. So we are going to have a Fire Rooster Year. (You can't make this stuff up.) The element paired with the zodiac animal creates it's own influence on the year and the person born during that year. If you are a Rooster make sure you also check out your element with the link below.
