Do you remember any of the games you played back in the day?

I know that I'm about to sound really old but don't you think that kids nowadays need to play outside more? Right? Put down the gadget and get outside already, I mean the weather today is supposed to be great with temperatures getting up to about 60 degrees.

Before my family moved up to Windham in the Catskills when I was 13, I lived on Long Island and we would always play outside. We would play wiffle ball, hide and seek and by far my favorite game, Kick the Can.

When I said kick the can, Jess laughed and had no idea what I was talking about. She said her grandfather has mentioned it before but that was it and she didn't even know how to play.

Here is how to play, according to the website Considerable.....

One person (or a team of people if the group is large) is designated It and an empty can is placed in the open playing field. With eyes closed, It counts to an agreed upon number, and the other players run and hide. It then tries to find and tag each of the players, always keeping a watchful eye on the can. Any player who is tagged is sent to the “jail,” usually in plain sight of the can. The rest of the free players attempt to kick the can before being tagged out. If they can kick the can without being caught, they set all the captured players free.

If you have never played, get outside and try it today.
