A Wappinger teenager is accused of passing stolen and forged checks at local banks that totaled close to $1,000.

On May 12, New York State Police from Wappinger were dispatched to investigate a reported larceny. Police say their investigation revealed that 18-year-old Julian Rodriguez, of the Town of Wappinger passed and forged checks at two local banks.

As a result, Rodriguez allegedly received around $880 in proceeds, officials say.

Rodriguez was charged with 2nd-degree forgery, 2nd-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both class D felonies, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

Rodriguez was arraigned at the Village of Wappingers Falls Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court and in the Village of Fishkill Court at a later date.
