It's not always easy to say a proper thank you to the thousands of men and women who have sacrificed so much for all of us by serving in the military. While many veterans would say a simple thank you, or acknowledgment of their services is enough, many want to do more.

In Ulster County, that’s exactly what Ulster County Executive Mike Hein wants to do by announcing a Veterans Stand-Down hosted by the Ulster County Veterans Service Agency. This will take place on Friday, August 10 from 9 to 2 and will be held at Ulster Hose 5 Fire Company at 830 Ulster Avenue in Kingston.

This event will give veterans a chance to visit with friends as well as network. Plus, there will be accredited service officers on hand to help veterans with available benefits as well as a VA clinic, and employment and legal assistance. There will also be food and entertainment throughout the event.

Admission is free for all veterans with breakfast and lunch served. If you know of a veteran who would like to attend, but transportation is an issue for him or her, please call the Ulster County Veterans Service Agency at (845) 340-3190 for help and to get more information.
