An Ulster County woman, with a number of prior convictions, was arrested after police say she received 5 pounds of pot.

Friday the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics (URGENT) was contacted by a private parcel carrier company and notified of a package containing contraband. After a positive indication by a Town of Plattekill Police K9, the package was examined by the parcel company and allegedly found to contain 5 pounds of marijuana.

The package was seized and delivered by URGENT members to its intended destination in the Village of Saugerties. Shortly after the delivery of the package, police executed a search warrant and arrested Jane Rosier, 56, of Saugerties.

Rosier was charged with criminal possession of marijuana, a felony. She was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court and remanded without bail to the Ulster County Jail, due to two or more prior felony convictions.

Authorities say Rosier is currently on probation from a conviction for selling drugs to undercover police in May 2015.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests may be made.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police, Village of Ellenville Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
