The Ulster County Executive is leaving the Hudson Valley to take a job with Gov. Cuomo's administration.

On Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced new appointments to his administration. One has a tie to the Hudson Valley.

Ulster County Executive Michael Hein will be nominated Commissioner of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, according to the Governor's Office.

Hein currently serves as Ulster County's first County Executive and was elected President of the New York State Association of Counties.

"This administration is laser focused on the advancement and enforcement of policies that improve the lives of residents in every corner of this state, from strengthening gun safety reforms and protecting our natural resources, to fostering economic opportunities that create new, 21st century jobs for New Yorkers," Cuomo said. "I am proud to work with these talented and dedicated individuals as we build on our progress and continue to move New York forward."

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro congratulated Hein on Facebook.

"Congratulations to Mike Hein as he begins this new chapter, Molinaro wrote. "It has been a pleasure working with Mike as he has led Ulster County as its first county executive, and we’re eager to have him represent the values of our region in the Capital District. Our shared love for the Hudson Valley has fostered a collaborative, bipartisan relationship that I am grateful for – a relationship that will now benefit residents statewide. Mike has been a faithful steward for Ulster County and it has been a pleasure serving across the river bank from him. We look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role in the Office of Temporary Disability Assistance."

It's not clear when Hein's appointment will take effect.
