Police are hoping for help after a flag purported to be one supporting Donald Trump was ripped down and stolen off the porch of a Hudson Valley home.

Surveillance video shows what appears to be a man parked next to the home in a white SUV. The man then gets out of the his vehicle, opens his trunk, pulls down a flag, places the flag in his trunk and drives off.

Below is video shared by the Rosendale Police Department. Police are hoping to get better quality video in the future.

Because of the poor quality video it’s unclear what is on the flag. Rosendale police didn’t specify what was on the flag. However, a family member wrote in the police department’s Facebook post that it is a Donald Trump flag.

“This is the second time my family members [sic] Trump flag and flag pole has been stolen off the front of there [sic] home,” John J. Paterno wrote on Facebook.

While Rosendale police didn’t release the contents of the flag, they did hint it was political.

“This is not the forum to air your political views or opinions,” the department wrote on Facebook. “The taking of another's property, regardless of what the property is deemed a larceny in New York State, and that is the subject being addressed.”

Anyone with information on the person responsible is urged to call police at  845-658-9000.
