With blizzard conditions blanketing the entire Hudson Valley and about 18 inches on the ground at the time of this report, New York State has placed a travel ban in effect for I-84.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as of 1pm, closed I-84 to all traffic. Only emergency personnel, first responders and critical medical people can use I-84 until the ban is lifted. The ban includes the all of I-84 from the Connecticut Line to Pennsylvania Line.

Truck bans continue on the New York State Thruway and Route 17.

Dutchess County has extended their travel ban to now include a parking ban. County Executive Mark Molinaro issued the order to start at 12pm. There is to be no parking on any public roads in the county. Local towns have the option to tow any car that interferes with plowing operations. This ban also includes the City of Beacon and Poughkeepsie.

In the press release, Molinaro reminds residents the roads in Dutchess are closed and it’s against the law to be out traveling.
