Our first snow storm of the year, it will dump about three to six inches of snow on Thursday into the Hudson Valley.  According to the discussion from the National Weather Service, a low-pressure system will spread snow into the area from south to north.  The snow may mix with sleet and freezing rain for portions of the region.  It will be a messy ride home for sure.

A winter weather advisory begins for the Hudson Valley at 4pm Thursday and goes to Friday at 1pm.

Here’s the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Thursday:  Snow, mainly after 4pm. High near 32. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tonight: Rain, snow and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing drizzle before 1am, then rain between 1am and 5am, then rain and sleet after 5am. Low around 29. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday:  Sleet, possibly mixed with rain showers and snow showers before 7am, then rain and snow showers likely between 7am and 11am, then a chance of rain showers after 11am. High near 41. North wind 8 to 11 mph.

Friday Night:  Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.

Saturday:  Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
