Believe it or not, tax season is a little closer than you may like it to be. With every year, it seems that tax regulations, deductions, filing procedures, and everything else you have to pay attention to just gets more complicated. I'd like to think that I could prepare my own taxes, but I know better.

If you aren't sure that you know what you're doing either, but the cost of having your taxes done by someone else is prohibitive, there is an organization that can help you when you need it. It's called the Hudson Valley Cash Coalition and right now they are looking for volunteers to help you and others in the Hudson Valley.

These volunteers work with the free tax preparation program as well as helping to fill other positions that help low to moderate income families, individuals and seniors in Orange and Dutchess counties. Not only do these volunteers use their skills to help others, they can also learn new ones as they receive free training along with IRS Certification.

You do need some experience in tax preparation, be able to work on computers, and work well with others. If you need something flexible, this is perfect as the hours, days and location sites will work with your availability.  Bilingual tax preparers are always needed and encouraged.
