Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse Happens This Month

A total lunar eclipse will only happen once this year.

According to WIVB, the full moon will be at its closest point to the Earth this month, which makes the moon appear slightly bigger and brighter and is sometimes called a supermoon.

We should be able to watch the sun, earth and moon all align, (weather permitting)on the night of Sunday January 20th and in the early hours of Monday January 21st, according to NASA.

Where do all of these different moon names come from?

Well they say it's called a blood moon because when a total lunar eclipse happens, the only light that reaches the moon's surface is from the edges of the earth's atmosphere. When that light reflects onto the moon's surface it has a red glow to it, making the moon appear red.

With the first full moon in January known as the wolf moon, experts are referring to this eclipse as the "super blood wolf moon."

Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us so we can see it because if we miss it, we will have to wait until May of 2021 for the next one.
