It was a somber day for many New Yorkers on Monday, September 11th, 2023.

The 22nd Anniversary of 9-11 Terror Attacks

On the 22nd anniversary of the 9-11 terror attacks on America, something special happened in New York City.

The State Department wrote in a press release:

On September 11, 2001, terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people and injured more than 6,000 others in the worst attack against the homeland in our nation’s history. Today we honor their memories and stand with the families and friends of those who perished in New York City, Arlington, Virginia, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

There were many beautiful tributes across the nation including a reading of the names of all the victims, bell tolls, and musical performances. The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills both wore hats of the NYPD and FDNY during their game on Monday night, September 11th, 2023.

But the most beautiful tribute happened naturally thanks to Mother Nature.

Double Rainbows Appeared Across NYC on 9/11

The tri-state area was treated to a burst of thunderstorms on Monday, 9/11/23, but it's the aftermath of those storms that is giving New Yorkers chills.

Immediately after the storm, a double rainbow was seen encapsulating the city. Many New Yorkers were sharing videos of the stunning sight to see. Take a look:

One commenter wrote "Out of all places, out of all days. This was no coincidence." Another stated "Feels like a message to everyone that’s still here. The world can be beautiful, even in times of mourning and grief."

Every year we take the time to remember those lives that were lost on that day 22 years ago. Sadly, over 50 people from the Hudson Valley lost their lives on 9-11.
