The heat and humidity have returned to the Hudson Valley with a vengeance and tonight the National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement as a result.

Today's temperatures reached the mid to upper nineties throughout the Hudson Valley, but you add in the humidity and the heat indices have been above 100 all day long. According to the National Weather Service, they are going to remain high throughout this evening. In fact, they expect them to linger near one hundred for the next hour or so.

With these conditions, the elderly, those with chronic health problems such as lung and heart disease, those who work outdoors, and other heat sensitive individuals need to be extra cautious this evening. It's best to limit outdoor activities for the next few hours.

The National Weather Service also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, and while there's a slight risk for strong storms tonight, there's a better chance we could see strong to severe storms tomorrow into tomorrow night.
