While it was wonderful today to reach above freezing temperature for the first time in several days, we could have some icy conditions to contend with tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, a Special Weather Statement has been issued for Orange, Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam Counties. Because temps got near 40 in many parts of the Hudson Valley today, some melting of the snow occurred, leaving standing water on sidewalks, parking lots, and roadways.

As the temperatures have fallen back into the 20's this evening, all of the water has now frozen and you may not be able to see it in time. Black ice is a real concern as you travel tonight. Any untreated surfaces will be icy, so exercise some caution as you are driving or walking this evening.

These icy conditions will remain through the early morning commute tomorrow so be careful if you are out late tonight or on the move early tomorrow morning.
