Sinterklaas is coming back to Rhinebeck as a part of the Hudson Valley holiday tradition. He 'will be coming to town' on December 2, 2017 as a part of the annual winter festivities.
In the old Dutch traditions, Sinterklaas would come to the homes of children in the Netherlands and Belgium on the night of December 5. This is when gifts would be given to the children and his arrival would be celebrated with a big feast. Some people beleive this is where the legend of Santa Claus began.
In Rhinebeck, the largest part of the Sinterklaas celebration is the annual parade, which heads down Market Street on the evening Saturday December 2.
