With the heat and humidity building over the weekend and carrying over to the start of the workweek, it would be nice to get some relief from the stickiness of it all. Relief is on its way, but not until after the potential of severe thunderstorms rolling through the Hudson Valley this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeastern Ulster County and Dutchess County until 2:30 this afternoon. These storms were located by Livingston around 1:25 this afternoon and are moving at 40 mph, have wind gusts as high as 60 mph with damage to roofs, trees, and siding expected.

This storm will impact the following locations in the next hour. Pine Plains and Stanfordville around 1:30; Ancram and Millbrook by 1:35, Millerton and Hopewell Junction by 1:40, Dover Plains by 1:45, and Pawling by 1:55.

If you see these storms coming, please move inside, preferably to an interior room on the lowest level of the building.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Severe Thunderstorm watch for the Hudson Valley until 7 pm tonight. This means that we could still see additional severe storms today.
