Rain, rain, go away and take the thunderstorms with you. As the heat and humidity build during the day, we are seeing storms develop in the afternoon, some of which become severe and that's exactly what has happened today.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Eastern Ulster and Dutchess County in effect until 5 pm today. This line of storms moving through the Hudson Valley this afternoon is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 MPH and quarter size hail.

According to the National Weather Service, hail could cause damage to vehicles as well as wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This storm is expected to impact Fishkill, Wappingers, Hopewell Junction, and Myers Corners before 4 pm. Other areas that will be impacted include Poughkeepsie, Fairview, Pleasant Valley and Highland until 4:25 this afternoon.

If you see this storm coming please move inside to an interior room on the lowest floor of the building. Torrential rainfall is also happening with this storm which could lead to flash flood warnings, should that happen we will get the information to you as soon as possible.

Once you are safe, please report the size of hail, damaging winds, and any downed trees to the National Weather Service.
