A three-vehicle accident on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie shut down Route 9 in the town for four hours on Sunday. According to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police, a 55-year-old woman from Amenia was traveling southbound on Route 9 and attempted to make a u-turn onto Route 9 north at the intersection of Beechwood Avenue.  As she was turning, her vehicle collided with a motorcycle operated by a 24-year-old male from Hopewell Junction.  After the initial impact, the 2006 Honda motorcycle then struck a BMW sedan traveling south.  The BMW was operated by a 29-year-old female from Hyde Park.

The operator of the motorcycle sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.  The drivers of the two other vehicles were uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is asking anyone that witnessed the crash to contact the Traffic Enforcement Bureau at 845-486-3680.
