Self Driving Cars Will Be Tested Here This Year
New York State says if you are going to drive, you must have at least one hand on the wheel at all times. Now they are going to allow driver less cars on our highways.
The legislature approved the testing of autonomous cars on New York roads for the next year. Now if you are not cool with the idea you might be happy to know that, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal, there are going to be plenty of restrictions.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles, meanwhile, has to approve any entity that wants to test the vehicles. The agency will be required to monitor any self-driving tests and determine the technology's impact on safety, traffic and emergency services
The State Police will also be at every driver less car test. After the year of testing is over both the DMV and State Police will have to submit an extensive report on what they think about the safety of not having someone behind the wheel.
The technology is here, but are you ready for it? Are you in favor of autonomous cars on our roads? Would you get in a car that drove itself? Please leave your comments on our Facebook page.
