Earlier this afternoon (Tuesday, November 1st) at 2:45pm, the Saugerties Police, as well as the Saugerties Fire Department and DIAZ Ambulence, responded to a "car vs. pedestrian" call on South Partition Street and Montgomery Street.

Christopher Rich,45, of Latham was allegedly hit by a 1994 Jeep Cherokee passing by that was driven by a 17 year old female. Police investigated the incident, interviewing several witnesses on the scene. According to a press release Rich was crossing the street in an area that was without a crosswalk. A witness saw Rich walking in the south bound lane as the jeep approached on the north bound side. The witness went on to say that Rich made it to the curb and then fell to the ground.

After an investigation of the vehicle, police say the vehicle showed no signs of contact with Christopher Rich. Paramedics at the scene treated Rich after complaining of lower back pains and then was transported to Health Alliance Broadway Campus in Kingston. Rich was later issued a summons under NY State Vehicle and Traffic Law for failing to yield for a motor vehicle in a non-designated crosswalk area.
