We see them every morning and afternoon during the school year. We count on them to help keep our children safe. School safety crossing guards is an important part of any community and Saugerties is in need of more of them.

According to the Saugerties Police Department, they are interested in recruiting School Crossing Guard candidates for several elementary schools, specifically in the Mount Marion School District. All candidates are subject to a background investigation and medical screening, which includes drug screening, prior to appointment. Candidates must have either graduated from high school or have a GED. It can be a very rewarding job, many crossing guards become like family to the communities in which they serve.

 

 

If you, or someone you know, is interested, simply stop by police headquarters and ask for an employment packet. Complete the packet indicating the position you are applying for, “School Crossing Guard” and return to the police department. Once your application has been reviewed, you'll get a phone call asking you to appear for an interview. The Saugerties Police department provides training and equipment.
