After you spend your Thanksgiving day snacking and eating, snacking a little more, having dessert, and finishing the day with a midnight snack, why not spend Black Friday outside, doing a little walking at any of New York's State Parks?

According to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, while many of NY State Parks don't charge at this time of the year, those that do, including The Walkway over The Hudson and Minnewaska State Park Preserve in Ulster County, are waiving the vehicle entry fee for this Friday, November 25. It's the perfect way to spend time with family and friends outside during the holiday weekend.

As an extra bonus, if you or your family are planning to take a walk on The Walkway Over the Hudson on Friday, may I suggest being there between 1 and 3 because the big man himself, Santa Claus, will be making a very special appearance.

There will be an opportunity for you and your children to not only greet Santa but get you photo taken with him as well. If you upload your photo to any of your social media pages, tag it with #optoutside and share your experiences.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!
