Sometimes it's good to remember that people who live in Poughkeepsie NY could have it much worse. They could be living in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas.

That's right, we're actually not the only Poughkeepsie in the country. In Sharp County, Arkansas there is another Poughkeepsie. And it certainly doesn't sound any better than the one we have.

In our ongoing series we explore why Poughkeepsie, NY is a much better place to live than Poughkeepsie, AR.

Today, let's talk restaurants.

A recent article in the Jackson Observer lists the top five restaurants in Poughkeepsie, AR. The "Eating Out" feature starts by boasting about Poughkeepsie's fine culinary offerings:

The area in and around Poughkeepsie, AR offers some of the greatest restaurant experiences that our nation has to offer, including dishes from all over the country.

We couldn't wait to find out about these fantastic restaurants so we scrolled down to the list. Let's just say we were slightly disappointed.

At the very top of the "restaurant" list was Subway. That's right, the famous sandwich chain is the "greatest restaurant experience" Poughkeepsie Arkansas has to offer. And if you're thinking, "Hey, this must be the most awesome Subway in the world!" think again. Here's an actual picture of the restaurant.

And the list only gets worse from there. The article goes on to talk about the incredible variety of Poughkeepsie restaurants.

Gluten allergy? Vegan? Vegetarian? Meat lover? No matter what your special diet is, fear not, our team of reviewers have taken into consideration restaurants that fit the dietary needs of everybody.

So that leads us to the second-best restaurant on the list: Sonic. To be fair, their tater tots are technically gluten free.

Rounding out the top 5 list are some local restaurants like Pizza PM (which sounds like some sort of pizza flavored cough medicine), Lee's Family Diner (which doesn't even have a Facebook page or Google listing for us to make fun of) and finally El Palenque Mexican Restaurant, which is technically not even in Poughkeepsie but nearby Cave City.

So be thankful you live in Poughkeepsie, New  York where we have an abundance of great restaurants to choose from. Our top choices, according to Yelp, include such awesome spots as Mill House Brewing Company, Crave, Brasserie 292, The Artist's Palate, Beech Tree, Twisted Soul and many more.

Remember, Poughkeepsie NY, it could be much much worse.
