The Poughkeepsie Alliance, Arts Mid-Hudson and O+ have announced the unveiling of the Poughkeepsie Gateway Mural.

This art intervention at the Route 9 underpass on Main Street in Poughkeepsie was completed by chosen local muralist Risa Tochigi aka Boogie, following a nation-wide call for muralists to submit their vision for the city space.

Twenty one submissions were received from artists in the Hudson Valley, New York City, New Jersey, Chicago, and Europe.

The decision was made by a jury of organizational representatives and community
members who selected their top five submissions for community input. After a community input session held in April, Boogie was chosen to complete the mural.

The Poughkeepsie Alliance will be commemorating this occasion with an unveiling ceremony and a keynote address by Mayor Rob Rolison. The ceremony will be held at the Poughkeepsie Train Pavilion located at the corner of Main Street and Detective John Falcone Memorial Avenue on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 4pm.
