A popular Hudson Valley barber shop was burglarized, leading to a Putnam County man’s arrest.

On Aug. 29, a burglary was reported at Xclusive Cuts located on South Lake Boulevard in Mahopac. A police investigation revealed the suspect got inside the shop from a side door and stole money from a cash register and a workstation cubbie.

Following a nearly two-week investigation, authorities developed 44-year-old Armando L. Cass of Carmel as a suspect. Investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant on Cass’ vehicle and home.

Following the search warrant, Cass was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies. Police did not reveal what the search warrant produced.

If found guilty of the felony charges, Cass could face up to seven years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $5,000.
