Police Looking for Dutchess County Man Who Fled Before Jail Sentencing

Local police need help finding a man who hit a cop and didn’t show up for his conviction or jail sentencing.

On Thursday in Orange County Court, 30-year-old Kodjo Kondon of Poughkeepsie was sentenced to four to 14 years in prison on two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and resisting arrest.

Kondon didn’t show up to court for his sentencing, nor was he present when he was found guilty in February.

According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Kondon attempted to obtain a loan at the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union in the Town of New Windsor on July 18, 2016 using a forged South Carolina driver’s license and false name.

When the Town of New Windsor police arrived, Kondon struck an officer and fled. After he was caught, he was found in possession of a forged Illinois driver’s license in another false name.

Kondon is wanted for bail jumping. Anyone with information regarding Kondon is urged to call the Orange County District Attorney’s Office at 845-291-2050. He faces an additional one to four years in prison for bail jumping.
