Police say one man stole $3,000 from Home Depot. Another man is accused of stealing $3,000 left unattended at a gas station.

On Thursday, New York State Police from Wappinger responded to the Home Depot in the village of Wappingers Falls for a larceny.

An investigation determined Anthony Gray stole over $3,000 worth of merchandise, police say. The 52-year-old from the Bronx was charged with grand larceny, a felony.

Also on Thursday, 59-year-old Clifford D. Akins of C.T., was charged with grand larceny, a felony, criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

Troopers responded to the Gulf gas station on Route 44 in the town of Washington for a report of a larceny. Police were told that an unidentified man stole $3,000 from the counter that was left unattended by a store clerk.

Akins was developed as a suspect. He was arrested after he returned to the gas station. He was found in possession of a small amount of cocaine and was driving with four driving suspensions, police say.

Akins was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond. Gray was sent to Dutchess County Jail without bail.
