A man on parole is accused of stealing nearly $4,000 from a bank after he passed a teller a note saying he was going to shoot everyone inside the bank.

On Friday around 2:40 p.m., Monticello police were alerted about a robbery at the KeyBank on Broadway. 24-year-old Timothy Bonilla is accused of passing a note to a teller that stated, “give me the money before I shoot the bank up.”

After stealing $3,740 from the bank Bonilla then fled, police say. Within three minutes of the reported robbery, Bonilla was found walking on Landfield Avenue. Bonilla is also accused of briefly fleeing police

Bonilla was charged with robbery, grand larceny, felonies, resisting arrested and violation of parole. After Bonilla was arrested, police recovered the stolen money and note used in the robbery, officials say.

Bonilla was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $75,000 bail. He is also currently on parole in until July of 2019 for a prior burglary conviction.
